What sets yoga apart from every other form of exercise? The work of breathing. The work of breathing is the key that opens the door to transformation on all levels. Through the work of breathing, we are creating the mind-body experience that brings all a part of us in sync, all come together. Yoga again is not only the body but the mental, emotional and spiritual states of being, and all through the use of breath.

Let us look closer to see this body and mind. Of"Spirit" in yoga, we are not talking about our thinking brain. We are of the total content of consciousness or intelligence within every atom of our being. In yoga, we will send the "brains" on a much deserved vacation and suspend all analytical thinking. We do this by simply all our attention on the breath, a breath at a time. It is not possible to think and concentrate on your breath at the same time. But do not take my word for it. Prove it to yourself. Right now. Close your eyesand bring your attention to your breath, just a deep, slow breath. Good. How do you feel? A little calmer? A little more relaxed? And after only one breath, mind you. Let's do it again, this time for three breaths. Make the breaths as long and as deep as you can. Do not hurry. OK, close your eyes and go for it.

When we put our attention on the breath to the exclusion of all others, the body automatically begins to relax, to create effortless release of stress and tension. Ofworking consciously with the breath, as we do in yoga, we access deep relaxation, extended, meditative state of being. This can be literally in the brain waves from beta waves, or wakefulness are measured displacement, the more relaxed alpha or even theta waves in yoga, which promote an automatic stress reduction. The concentration on the breath is, in fact, the simplest form of meditation. In fact, a yoga-meditation in motion that opens easily into the deep isTransformation on all levels. During a practice, without even trying, we can say goodbye to all types of on emotional and mental stress-baggage "that piles up on the inside as a byproduct of daily living. Since we are clear, pure "prana," the Sanskrit word for "life force", begins to flow through our being, and open ourselves so that new opportunities arise.

The challenge for each of us is exactly that - nor the endless chatter of our Do you feel that race relentlessly, evenrandomly from one thought to another. Paradoxically, reassure us that we improve the mental clarity. Playing a CD on a trip recently, I was surprised to hear that we were more than 60,000 thoughts per day and 95% of them thought that we yesterday! Now that got me thinking ... hmmm ... exactly what I think about all day ... yes, that is, and oh yes, too, and ohmygod not again ... as I continue the litany, my own witnesses, un-used experience. Okay, I'll avoid thatThinking here and now. As I tape a path through the green, rolling hills of northern California, I began with a breath and a breath without thinking at all, leaving the black cow spotting the emerald green hills, abundant mighty oak, the clean blue sky watch so calm and present, everything is connected. Rest assured, it was not long before I got sucked back into the maelstrom and asked to his table, the cows might end up and what an Angus steak anywayand were the bio-diversity and what the life of a cow ... and so on, until I realized that had my momentary calm was secretly stolen by no one except me - thief of my own peace of mind! Confused and amused, I could only surrender to my own humanity and reaffirm my commitment to that little guy is closed for good these days, even though I knew which day would that - the day I went up in smoke. I took a few breaths at the moment, gratefulRecognition of the ancients, who persuaded us gifted with the practice of yoga in the first place nor the sound of the shoulders and relax the brain node.

Yoga is a way of life, a practice that is internalized over time. Conscious recollection the work of breathing as a tool to use in our daily lives, we can instantly access the same peace, present and grounding, which we find in our practice. A master of our ship, is the breath of a reliable compass that can redirectus as we navigate life's inevitable storms. And so you remember about your breath the next time you feel the turbulence collection with you. Keep in mind, and you use it, one breath after another. It could be the difference between a wreck and a successful transition.
