Will Yoga Improve My Personality?

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

I laugh at this question in a yoga FAQ, and I confess it made me, but it's a good question.

Yoga will not improve your personality - there is nothing wrong with your personality. Regardless of who you are, you're a perfect being in and of itself. But here are a few remarks to what yoga can do for you, for himself in relation to your personality.

First, a regular practice of asana is your body in better shape to leave, that issay, it will tone your muscles to keep your body supple, and probably a chronic pain may occur, are lagging behind. A more toned body also increases your self-esteem, because you know that you are here to better yourself.

Second, the addition to your regular meditation practice by becoming part of the yoga practice to calm your mind what your point of view clearer. A quiet mind leads to a stable emotional state, focus of clean life and more confidence in their ownSkills.

Third, there are other forms of yoga that may not have the asana practice or meditation, for example, is bhakti yoga yoga of devotion to sing - if you enjoy singing, this form of yoga to bring some joy to your life. Jnana Yoga is the yoga of knowledge, if that is important for you as it is me, then you increase your knowledge is the confidence and purpose in your life. Karma Yoga, the yoga ofselfless service, is good for the soul give of themselves, as feels good. If what is to do something by yourself, then adding some kind of service or volunteer work is fulfilling this desire in you.

And finally, and definitely the most important in my opinion, yoga is to increase your love for yourself. If you love yourself, that projects that you stand firm in the world because it comes from within you, and it is an expression of your true self andtrue nature.

So the short answer is, paradoxically, yes and no. Yoga will not improve your personality, because there is nothing wrong with you. Yoga in and of itself is not a cure all for every lifestyle, issue or personal insecurity - what does yoga depends on what you're doing your yoga practice.

Yoga and meditation to create a peaceful, stable, toned body and spirit, but it's you that this is creating for himself. As it should be - ifGive yourself than to be a divine being, you feel divine. As simple as it is not necessarily easy, but easy.

Namaste (the Divine in Me in honor of the divine in you)
