The mind will endeavor to create in the body, what it believes to be true. As a self-help author Earl Nightingale put it, "You become what you think." With ten years ago, my daughter came home from school one day and said: "My teacher once told me that I'm not good at math. If they ever tell me that, as I will in future always good at math?" My daughter obviously feels the power of the mind more clearly than her teacher. In the immortal words of Milton,"The mind is its own place and in itself / Can a heaven of hell, to make hell of heaven."
Years ago, a student of mine was plagued with chronic pain in the spine, which would not go away no matter what I did. She has even studied with Iyengar for ten years and was no longer any relief. After 25 years of pain, she decided to finally go to a doctor. After a series of tests, the doctor told her she had lung cancer, and that it is their bones and spread in the spinal metastases. She hadA deadline of two months to live. I have very hard to convince my students about it, not condone, the death of the doctor's record. After all, they had the same pain for more than two decades. Unfortunately it was too late. She had lost hope by sacrificing all her strength to the doctor. Two months after the date of diagnosis, she was dead. This example underlines that the way such as teachers, we need as our far-reaching influence to use, and choose each word carefully. Careless words can destroy a life, whilethoughtful words to create the power to bloom.
This approach is not hide the truth. We need our students to tell the truth that we see. However, we should be an inflexible attitude that says, in so "That is the truth, and I must say, no matter what it costs!" We must tell the truth in a way that the pupils by always reminding them of their power to change is positive thing. We need to ahimsa satya Result: non-harming with truthfulness.
The language of transformation isthe language of compassion. What turns our students no flood of fiery words is to burn down their egos, but the flame of love, warmth and care. If we find a student who is stubborn and self-important, we can help them not by blows to her ego for the ego, in the defense, build a hard shell around themselves and are no longer accessible. The way to transform the ego is with compassion and warmth, so that the ego is possible from its outer shell and can be made available for change.
WeProbably all know, reducing teachers, their students, because they feel more and masterful aggrandize their egos. These teachers can not teach how our models. As teachers, we might ask: "Do I want to appear to be great, or I will help my students to grow?" I want the stars, or I'll get to the stars? "I want my place to impose on the student; or I will help my students, you would go and explore their own attitudes? Am I serving my students or my ego? "We can not serve both.
The art of leadership is different, who knows how to help them use the power of their own minds and enables them to overcome their resistance to the transformation. With time, they are not suited to inner guidance will be scattered and misled by the external references and comparisons. We help our students to use the power of their thoughts to destroy or build, stagnating or transform, buried or rise, imprison or liberate. Evolution is only possible withFreedom.
